Table 1 represents the demographics for the AHMS participants highlighted in the analyses in Celebrating Heart Month: Updated Trends in Activity and Cardio Fitness. The cohorts were narrowed as data requirements tightened to allow for evaluating different trends in data and to include as many participants as possible for each. Each analysis had different data requirements, resulting in the generation of three cohorts. Cohort 1 is the most expansive cohort, including every participant in AHMS who completed the common demographics survey, reported their assigned sex at birth as male or female, had at least 6 weeks of activity logged passively through Apple Watch and actively logged at least one workout in 2023. Cohort 2 is a subset of Cohort 1 who also had 10 or more VO2 max samples collected in 2023. Cohort 3 is a subset of Cohort 2 who had at least two VO2 max samples collected in January-February and November-December of 2023. The MacArthur Scale of Subjective Social Status survey responses were used to classify subjective social status. The BMI categories were defined based on the BMI classification from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
